Bruce McClymonds is the President of West Virginia University Hospitals, a 531-bed university teaching hospital located in Morgantown, West Virginia. WVU Hospitals is a subsidiary of the West Virginia United Health System and a component of the WVU Health Sciences Center, which includes the WVU Schools of Medicine and Nursing and University Health Associates, a 450-physician faculty practice plan. Effective January 1, 2005, WVUH assumed responsibility for WVUH-East, a two-hospital system in the state’s eastern panhandle.
Bruce served as the Hospital’s chief financial officer from 1989 through 1994 and as the Hospital’s chief operating officer in 1995 and 1996. He is responsible for all aspects of Hospital operations and plays a significant role in strategic plan development and implementation.
Prior to moving to WVU Hospitals, Bruce spent nine years in the healthcare specialty group of Price Waterhouse’s Pittsburgh office. He also served as the chief financial officer of a community hospital in the Pittsburgh area.
Bruce is a graduate of Grove City (Pa.) College, and is a certified public accountant. He and his wife, Andy, have two daughters (Sara and Morgan). He was Chair of the 2005 Monongalia and Preston County United Way Campaign and past Chair of the West Virginia Hospital Association.
