Scott is originally from White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. After graduation, Scott enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 2-47th Infantry Battalion at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2001, he was awarded a Green to Gold Scholarship in order to complete his college education. Scott graduated from West Virginia University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in Military Police Corps. He has served in the West Virginia Army National Guard since 2003 and is a former commander of the 154th Military Police Company. While serving as a Military Police Officer, Scott also attended the West Virginia University College of Law, graduating in 2006. In January 2008, Scott was selected to serve as minority counsel for the West Virginia House of Delegates, during the 2nd Session, 78th Legislature. Currently, Scott serves as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for the West Virginia Army National Guard in Charleston, West Virginia. In that position, he oversees the delivery of legal operations for the State military force. Scott has promoted and advanced military law in the State. He is an active member of the West Virginia State Bar Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. He has volunteered his time to the committee to help organize an annual Veterans Day of Service in collaboration with National Pro Bono Day.
