Katie has significant experience handling litigation matters, particularly in the area of labor and employment. Katies experience includes handling all facets of litigation, including providing counsel, arguing and drafting motions, managing discovery and conducting trials. Katie represents her clients before state and federal courts, arbitrators, the West Virginia Human Rights Commission, the EEOC, the NLRB, and the DOL. Katie also frequently handles nationwide wage and hour and FLSA class actions.She works closely with clients, including their in-house counsel and human resource groups, to identify and address existing and potential issues. She advises companies and supervisors on National Labor Relations Act-related issues and handles collective bargaining and labor arbitrations. Katie also drafts employee handbooks, employment policies, non-competes, and non-solicitation agreements.Katie serves as a mediator in a variety of litigation matters, including employment cases. Her broad litigation experience and history representing both plaintiffs and defendants provides her with a unique and objective perspective that makes her an ideal choice for mediating cases.Katie also counsels and trains clients and their employees on how to prevent claims. Katie regularly authors and edits papers and articles for national publications and speaks at leading conferences. Katies goal is to achieve her clients goalwhether that is arguing a case through trial or settling a case early to maximize the outcome for the client and minimize risk.
